Carmel College Public Speaking Competition

Carmel College Public Speaking Competition Friday 7th February 2020

Another fantastic evening at Carmel College for their annual Public Speaking competition. Every year we say the best year ever, well it’s happened again.

This year we welcomed 5 exceptional presentations from in running Order,

Olivia Stevenson “A day to dream of”

Ines Bonati “Money has to serve note to rule (Pope Francis)”

Thomas Thorogood “A day to dream Of”

Dona Josh ” 3 wishes”

Nic Jezierski ” A day to dream of”

Kathryn Edmond, Chaplain Carmel College got the evening off to a great start with a lovely  prayer dedicated to the contestants, I think our prayers where answered, speech after speech drawing a great round of applause.

The eventual winner was Dona Josh, pictured third from the left, stood with the trophy next to the Chairperson for the night, Brother President Roger Mullin of St Helen’s Circle.

Chair of Judges Margaret Turner (St Helen’s Catenians) reported the other judges (Bernard Fyles also St Helne’s Catenians) and  Neil Connolly (Retired Director of NHS Primary Care, St Helens) had a really tough job separating the winner as the results were very close.  Margaret went on to say with general agreement from all present it has been the strongest competition to date. The speeches were all excellently presented, the content very well researched and thought provoking.
